DPR hospitalises 15 suspected COVID-19 contacts – minister

Donetsk, Mar 24 – DAN. Fifteen people suspected of contacting COVID-19 have been hospitalised in the Donetsk Republic, the DPR Healthcare Minister Olga Dolgoshapko told reporters on Tuesday.

“As of March 24, there is not a single confirmed COVID-19 case in the DPR. Seventy-one people, including four children, are currently under medical supervision,” Dolgoshapko said. “They are tourists who have returned from Italy, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Ukraine; they might have had contacts with the sick.

“Fifteen persons have been hospitalised as suspected COVID-19 contacts,” she said.

All these patients are now in quarantine as they showed COVID-19 symptoms. Half of them have tested negative for COVID-19; the remaining test results will be available within the next two days.

“Two hundred and forty-seven people are in isolation at home, Dolgoshapko said.

On March 14, the DPR went on high alert in connection with the threat of coronavirus infection. The persons arriving from COVID-19 affected countries including Ukraine, China, Spain, Italy, Iran, Korea, France and Germany are ordered to self-isolate themselves at home for 14 days from the date of arrival.*jk
