Ukrainian military loot and demolish civilian houses to fortify positions

Donetsk, Nov 16 – DAN. Ukrainian military disassembled a number of houses in Novotroitskoye abandoned by their owners due to the war, to use them for fortifying positions, the DPR People’s Militia HQ said.

“Fighters of the 53rd mechanized brigade dismantled five houses for materials to be used for fortification construction. The houses were abandoned by people who fled the war.”

However, one of the owners returned and asked the Ukrainian army for a compensation, but he was denied any assistance on the grounds that his property sustained damage unrelated to the military action.

Looting is a regular practice in Ukrainian units. Similar cases are reported monthly, if not weekly. One of the latest incidents was reported in September, when Ukrainian troops demolished houses in Gladosovo.*ot
