Kiev forces open fire close to a strategic water facility – JCCC

Donetsk, Dec 23 – DAN. Ukrainian forces opened grenade launcher fire on the Shakhta 6/7 township on Wednesday, the DPR mission to the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) said.

The fire was reported at 1.35 p.m. from the direction of Shumy. Three grenade launcher rounds were fired.

Kiev derailed a scheduled joint inspection of Shumy on September 10 aimed at probing engineer works in the area, as Donetsk accused Ukraine of equipping and extending their positions towards the Severskiy Donets – Donbass water duct arch in violation of the Additional Measures. Later Kiev refused to discuss and harmonize the coordination mechanism established to verify violations.

Shumy is located close to the Severskiy Donets – Donbass water duct, a major water pipe in Donbass supplying water to both sides of the contact line. The water facility often comes under Ukrainian fire, which causes interruptions in supply. *ot
