Humanitarian subgroup approves prisoner exchange preparation mechanism – Nikonorova

Donetsk, Sep 18 – DAN. The members of the Contact Group humanitarian subgroup at the meeting in Minsk on Wednesday approved the recording of the mechanism to prepare for the exchange of persons held in connection with the Donbass conflict, the Donetsk Republic representative to the Contact Group, DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova said.

“The next step (at the negotiations – eds Donetsk News Agency) is to write down the mechanism for procedural preparation of the detained persons for exchange, approved by all participants today,” Nikonorova said. “It would be a practical step towards the upcoming and all subsequent exchanges which would ensure a systemic and orderly procedure.”

Nikonorova also reminded about the DPR’s readiness for the process. However, she said that Ukraine had not completed all the stages of legal clearance of the persons due to be exchanged. The humanitarian subgroup also addressed the issue of the safety of the persons on the detainee list.

Minsk hosted a new round of Donbass peace talks on Wednesday. All the four Contact Group subgroups held meetings.*jk
