Donbass ready for disengagement in 4 new areas, Kiev hinders progress

Donetsk, Apr 8 – DAN. The members of the Contact Group have an opportunity to agree on the four new disengagement areas, said DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova.

The Contact Group holds a meeting today through video conference call.

“The fact is that we have a real opportunity to harmonize and finally endorse the plan and schedule of the disengagement at four new areas proposed by the Republics, which raised no objections on the Ukrainian side. We are ready to begin the disengagement on any date,” Nikonorova said.

No progress on the issue has been reached today as Ukraine assumed a counter-productive position.

“They suggested that we call another meeting of the security subgroup on April 10 at 11 p.m. without announcing our positions in advance. Due to the obvious inadvisability of the proposal it was turned down by other participants,” she said. *ot
