Ukrainian forces shell northern Gorlovka with mortars – Yakubov

Donetsk, Jan 10 – DAN. Ukrainian army units shelled the Colliery 6/7 settlement in northern Gorlovka with mortars on Thursday afternoon, head of the Donetsk Republic Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination Ruslan Yakubov said.

“Ukrainian forces shelled the Colliery 6/7 settlement in Gorlvoka with three 82mm mortar rounds, large calibre machine guns and small arms,” Yakubov said.

It is the third time the Ukrainian army used large calibre mortars since the introduction of the “Christmas ceasefire” in the region. The first heavy mortar strike was delivered at northern Donetsk on December 29.

Earlier reports said that Ukrainian forces violated the ceasefire five times over the past 24 hours.

The Christmas ceasefire brokered by the Contact Group has been formally in effect in Donbass since December 29, 2018.*jk
