Ukrainian forces shell Donetsk axis villages with mortars – JCCC

Donetsk, May 16 – DAN. Ukrainian army units on Thursday morning shelled the Spartak, Luganskoye, Vasilyevka and Yakovlevka settlements in the outskirts of Donetsk and Yasinovataya with mortars, the Donetsk Republic Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination reported.

“At 06:00, a strike by Ukrainian armed formations at the Spartak and Lugansk settlements areas was recorded; two recoilless gun rounds and ten 120mm mortar rounds were fired,” the report said.  “At 6:35, the enemy delivered another strike at Spartak, firing five 82mm mortar rounds and four recoilless gun rounds.”

The Yakovlevka and Vasilyevka villages outside Yasinovataya came under mortar and infantry fighting vehicle cannon fire, according to the JCCC.

On Wednesday, Kiev forces repeatedly fired at the Vasilyevka pumping station area. The shelling continued late in the evening despite the JCCC’s DPR Office request for security guarantees.*jk
