Nikonorova dismisses Kiev’s statement on border subgroup

Donetsk, Jan 17 – DAN. Ukrainian negotiators in Minsk have not raised the issue of creating a new subgroup in the presence of DPR negotiators, said DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova.

Earlier the press secretary of Leonid Kuchma, Ukraine’s authorized representative at the talks, Daria Olifer, said that Kiev proposed to establish the working group on border control issues.

“The statement on an allegedly made proposal on subgroup for border control issues is a blatant lie. Such proposals have not been voiced.”

Nikonorova said that such action resemble the policy of Ukraine’s ex-president Petr Poroshenko who tried to pervert the logic of the Minsk Agreements and gain control over the border avoiding the discussion over Donbass status.

“Instead of wasting time on absurd statement non-related to the reality they’d rather read the agreements once again. It is clearly stipulated there that border control transfer is the final step possible only after the political settlement.”
