DPR introduces criminal liability for desecration of war memorials

Donetsk, Dec 18 – DAN. The DPR has introduced criminal responsibility for desecration of WWII and Donbass war memorials, DAN correspondent reports from the People’s Council session.
“The amendments (to the Criminal Code) are aimed at protecting the memory of heroes who died in the WWII or during the DPR was for independence. They introduce criminal responsibility for desecration of memorials in the memory of fallen in the WWII and the Donbass war,” the Speaker of the Parliament Vladimir Bidyevka said.
The crime will be subject to a fine up to 3 million rubles, or up to 3 annual salaries, or up to 3 years of imprisonment.
If desecration is committed by a group of people, it shall be considered an aggravating circumstance bringing the penalty up to 5 million rubles, or 5 annual salaries or five years of prison.
The amendment was endorsed unilaterally by 87 deputies.*ot
