12,300 DPR residents receive Russian citizenship under simplified procedure – Migration Service

Donetsk, Aug 27 – DAN. The number of Donetsk Republic residents who received Russian passports under simplified procedure has reached over 12,300, the DPR Interior Ministry Migration Service told the Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.
“As many as 12,310 DPR residents received Russian passports in a fast track procedure,” the Migration Service said.
On April 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the degree on determining groups of foreign nationals eligible to obtain Russian citizenship under a simplified procedure. The document specifically eases Russian citizenship rules for residents of the Donbass Republics.
The first Russian passports were issued on June 14. Donetsk Republic residents have to travel to Russia’s Rostov region to collect their passports. To apply for Russian citizenship, residents have to show a DPR-issue passport.*jk
