Historic name Stalino becomes symbolic title of Donetsk

Donetsk, Apr 24 – DAN. The DPR Head Denis Pushilin has issued a decree to make the old name of Donetsk – Stalino – the city’s official historic name to be used on commemorative occasions.

“I hereby decide to provide the name “the city of Stalino” with a status of Donetsk symbol. It is to be used in Republican and city events to commemorate important dates of Donetsk and WWII history.”

Stalino was the name of Donetsk from 1929 to 1961. *ot
