DPR calls Ukrainian stance on Minsk Agreements implementation “political chaos”

Donetsk, Dec 11 – DAN. The absence of lawmaking initiatives on the issues reviewed by the Contact Group testifies to the political chaos in Ukraine, said DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova.

Verkhovnaya Rada speaker Dmitry Razumkov said on December 6 that the Ukrainian parliament had not received any requests related to the lawmaking initiatives on the issues reviewed by the Contact Group and in the Normandy Four format.

“Such statements seem absurd considering the fact that in early 2020 the Ukrainian president appointed representatives of three Verkhovnaya Rada committees to the Contact Group. The appointments were accompanied by a massive media hype: presumably a direct connection with the Rada will be established, and Ukrainian negotiators will face no difficulties in communication with the parliament aimed at the political settlement.

“The reality showed that Ukrainian authorities keep playing ping-pong. They tell us that they are not authorized to address the Rada with initiatives on amending or introducing the necessary laws. At the same time, the Rada says that no one addressed it with such requests.

“There is the rule of chaos, confusion and discoordination of actions in Ukraine. Nevertheless, the Rada could have started reviewing the existing bills, in particular those that have been presented to Kiev by the Republics. But Kiev is not willing to bring efficiency and definiteness into the Minsk Agreements implementation,” Nikonorova said.

The Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelensky approved an enlarged delegation to the Contact Group to include the head of the foreign policy parliamentary committee Aleksandr Merezhko as the delegation deputy head, head of the legal policy committee Andrey Kostin as an envoy to the political subgroup, head of the social policy and veterans’ rights protection committee Galina Tretyakova as an envoy to the humanitarian subgroup. Zelensky said the extended membership “would empower the delegates to make decisions so that they have a state status.”*ot
