All patients with suspected COVID-19 in DPR hospitals test negative

Donetsk, Mar 31 – DAN. More than 130 people remain in Donetsk People’s Republic hospitals as part of measures to prevent the import and spreading of the new coronavirus infection, the Republic’s Healthcare Minister Olga Dolgoshapko said at a press briefing in Donetsk on Tuesday.

“No COVID-19 cases have been diagnosed in the Republic as of March 31,” Dolgoshapko said. “The condition of all 131 people, currently under medical supervision, is satisfactory. They have normal temperature and undergo medical checks as well as treatment for acute respiratory viral infections if necessary.”

Sampling for COVID-19 tests has been carried on all patients in hospitals; the tests have proved negative.  Over the past 24 hours, another 16 people came under medical supervision; of those 12 were sent to hospitals, the minister said. At present, 8,747 DPR residents are in self-isolation at home; a majority have entered the DPR since March 27.

On March 14, the DPR went on high alert in connection with the threat of the coronavirus infection.

Ukraine and Russia have reported an increase in the number of the infected. Latest reports said that there were around 770,000 COVID-19 contacts across the world; some 37,000 people have died. The countries with the largest COVID-19 death toll are Italy, Spain and the United States.*jk
